I guess this isn’t relevant to everyone mainly Australians but iv heard from a few reliable sources that conscription or something of the like is going to be introduced in Australia. i think it will be a compulsory 2 years served in the military and if there is a war we'll have to go to it. i don’t know if everyone agrees but i think its immoral to force someone to go off to train or even strait to war to die especially since any war we will go into will just be following America into there wars.
Some people like war like i think morik does from the impression I’ve got but i think war is the stupidest thing second only to conscription. i mean i think maybe doll bludgers should either have to get a job or be constricted for a couple years but even that gives them a choice if they don’t want to go to war then they can just get off there ass and get a job. i don’t care what other people think but if stupid politicians let conscription in then i think they should all be the first in with no special treatment even John Howard. There is nothing in this world that i feel more strongly against than conscription it is as bad as slavery its striping us of our freedom sending someone to war against there will is as good as murder.
If anyone els has an opinion post it
And setzer what do you think

What sources did you hear this from, because John Howard recently made a public promise that Conscription was not going to be enforced in Australia and that he was only going to make it easier and more encouraging for people to join the military. I know he breaks his promises alot, but since he swore it to the population there would be no conscription, the senate has every right to instantly end his term, and the Governor General can sack him on the spot if he breaks that promise. So I don't think that will happen. Consription itself is evil, inconsiderate and shows that the leader is prepared to have his hands stained with the blood of hundreds of thousands of people. If consription is enforced in Australia i'm moving straight to Canada. No joke _________________

People are always talking about conscription being put into effect over here, too. It never actually happens. If you ask me, these kinds of rumors are typically the result of a bunch of liberal morons trying to scare people. I wouldn't worry about it.
Or rather, you guys shouldn't worry about it. We're looking it dead in the eye over here. If this Korea situation gets out of hand we may be needing it. We've spread ourselves a tad thin. Most of our army is tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan, if a major war breaks out in the Pacific we may not have enough troops to deal with the problem without reinstituting the draft.
If that happens, well, so be it. If I'm called, fine. May the blood of the Viking which flows in my veins grant me the berserkers rage. Should I die, then I die. I will die weapon in hand facing the foeman and will feast at Odin's table in the Halls of Valhalla.
But I digress...as you might guess, I disagree with the both of you over the supposed immorality of conscription. There is a time and a place for it. Over here, that time is soon at hand. If it must be done then it must be done.
Of course, if I read your post right then you're talking about something slightly different. Ever play Nationstates? It's an online game. My nation, The Free Land of Nagapura, has compulsory military service for all able citizens. Four years, minumum. As a direct result I have one of the lowest crime rates in the world.
Oh my, I seem to have rambled again...oh well...
