How stupid are the world leader these days and why do they hate peace so much. Korea, wanted to set off a nuclear bomb for PEACEFUL REASONS!!! Is anyone really suppose to but that? Even if they arn't the first ones to fire it shows that they are expecting war. Why can't these idiots in positions of power learn to stop fighting about what religion is right and who should have all the Oil, blah, blah, blah. When our own planet is burning to a crisp because the are too worried about being richer then the country next to them to give a crap about global warming, or spend money on scientific advancements towards space so we can escape this hellhole rather then on have a larger stockpile of nuclear warheads, which everyone knows will just speed up gobal warming tenfold for every one that is fired. But I suppose many people like to be ignorant of these fact so they can be happy for the little time they have left, which I admit I kind of envy.

What does everyone else think about King Jong Ill or whatever his name is?

Whoa! Calm down there tiger! It ain't quite time to go running around screaming "RUN FOR THE HILLS!!" just yet. This Korea situation is unlikely to blow up the Earth.

The thing you need to realize is that this situation is more complicated than leaders who, "hate peace". Both sides have goals that they wish to achieve, perfectly reasonable goals from thier respective points of view, and are willing to do just about anything to achieve them.

The North wants to be one of the big dogs. They want to stand on par with the major powers of the world, and they see a nuclear arsenal as the key to gaining that position.

The UN, and in particular the United States, cannot allow this. Why? Because a nuclear equipped North could destabilize the entire region and severely threaten our interest there.

The North is an aggresionist country. We know this. If not for the US military maintaining constant guard on the 39th the South would have been conquered long ago.

Both have reasonable goals, you see, but these goals are clearely incompatable. We can't both have what we want and neither of us are backing down and so conflict is inevitable.

The sad thing is that if we had finished the North back in the fifties when we had the chance we wouldn't be having this problem now.

But if it wasn't this it would be something else. You see...that's the real reason why war approaches.

Man is a warrior race. We fight. It's what we do best. Since Cane killed Abel there has not been a single moment in which someone, somewhere, has not been fighting. And there never will be.

Einstein, who was a proffessed pacifist, once said, "As long as there will be man, there will be war."

This is the way of things. It cannot be changed, nor should it.

It is foolish to deny one's nature, to fight against it. You see...that's a fight you cannot win.

We are warriors. Warriors fight. So it has been and so it always will be. And a fight does indeed approach. Perhaps this time around, when the time comes to land the finishing blow, we will not hesitate.

Oh, and his name is Kim Jong-Il. I hear he has a spectacular movie collection, including the entire James Bond series.

If true then the man has earned a place in my cool book.

Come on, he has the whole James Bond series and a nuclear arsenal? That's very cool. Kudos to him.

I don’t think I’m a warrior, I don’t think its in my nature to fight it aint what I do best.

But greed definitely is in our nature they want this we want that. But since there is one thing we all have in common is that we all want to go on living and since everyone knows that lots of nukes and living kinda aint compatible, I’m not to worried about a nuke war.

A few squabbles a bit of whinging here and there and maybe some invading but no nuking.

Surely if we are smart enough to relies that nuking is in no ones best interest then the world leaders should be to.

Oh except um maybe religious fanatics who think that if they die for their cause then they’ll go to heaven oh man I hope they don’t get nukes.

Never mind i saw on South Park that if you duck and cover larva and nukes cant hurt you.

I think Ill ask Kim Jong-Il if I can borrow his bond collection.

However Morik, I beleive they it is within human ability to evolve and learn from their mistakes, It may take another world war before we finally learn our lesson, by the looks of it. But it should eventually happen when everyone realises that they won't have a future to fight for if all we do is squabble about which religion is right and which government is right and instead try and slow down the inevitable we have done to the planet and if we have the combined scientific minds of every country working on space flight to save the human species, not just the Korean race or the American race or the Russian race, etc it might happen in a foreseeable future, not after the world has been continuely brought back hundreds of years by wars and by a shortage of food, water, and Land Space. Yes I'm probably am a bit too much of a science fiction dreamer, but Mars is definately posible to colonise with our current technology but will take a long time to make posible.

Your warrior instinct simply has not awakened. It quite possibly never will. But it's there. Should push ever come to shove you'll be very surprised how much of a warrior you really are.

I tend to agree. Our instinct for self preservation will most likely prevent any large scale exchange of nuclear weapons. However, I think that smaller scale exchanges are almost inevitable.

I fully expect the North to use it's newfound arsenal in the coming war. The only question is whether the US will respond in kind. I personally don't believe we will. I don't think we have the stomach for it. We lost our edge a long time ago.

It's a shame...to have passed our prime so quickly...to have achieved so little...

Another reason why we cannot allow a nuclear equipped North to exist. Such a thing would greatly increase the chances of such weapons falling into the hands of terrorists.

Not if I ask him first...

You imply that there is something wrong with our constant warring. I disagree but I doubt I could convince many others of this point of view.

You seem to place an undue amount of faith in the concept of Global Warming. Frankly I find the idea that we could actually do anything to permenantly harm this planet to be...somewhat arrogant.

The fact of the matter is that there is every bit as much, if not more, evidence indicating that Global Warming is a natural periodic cycle the planet goes through as there is evidence that is a catostrophic climate shift brought on by greenhouse gasses.

And if Global Warming is a fact...well we're screwed anyway. There is absolutely nothing we could do to reverse the damage now.

I would now like to draw your attention to this phrase:
if all we do is squabble about which religion is right and which government is right
You used this same phrase previously. I reiterate, these are not the real reasons behind our constant warring. We war because it's what we do. If we drop everything and escape to the stars...then the heavens will burn with the fires of war as surely as the fields of Earth do now.

Wherever we go, whatever we do, war will follow.

...We...are...war. And war...is us.
This is completely true. We have had the tech to colonize mars for decades.

We don't cuz...there's no one for us to fight there...
